The Shivas are not like most young garage bands. First off, they don’t play in a garage.

The Shivas’ humble beginnings are those of four young high school students with a mutual love for good old rock and roll. One thing led to another as the story goes and the band fell into place in mid-June of 2006. It was originally composed of Singer/Guitar player Jared Wait-Molyneux, accompanied by his younger brother Colby Wait-Molyneux playing the drums. Jacob Gellman played the bass and Eric Shanafelt, the congas, as well as any other assorted percussion he could get his hands on.

As 2007 rolled around The Shivas had established a fan base in Vancouver, Washington as well as across the river in Portland, Oregon. The first few months of the bands existence consisted of writing and playing shows here and there around the Portland metro area. The second half of 2007 brought the home recording of a debut record entitled “Where Have You Gone To?”.

With 2008 came the release of their debut album on independent label “World in Sound”. The albums release was followed by a summer tour, throughout which every major city on the west coast was graced by The Shivas’ presence, with them traveling as far north as Port Townsend, Washington and as far south as Los Angeles, California.

When they returned, many more months of shows followed with The Shivas playing the vast majority of major clubs in Portland and Vancouver. This hard work ethic resulted in the band playing more than 100 concerts in the year of 2008

In December of 2008 a follow up to “Where Have You Gone To?” began being recorded with Pat Kearns in Portland, which has since been finished.

The band continues its heroic journey still today.
